Chocolate City Group is going back to where it all started. The popular entertainment company has signed a new partnership with the Plateau State Government. Together, they will set up a creative industry incubator and radio station in Jos.
The deal was signed recently at the Government House in Jos. Chocolate City’s Chairman, Audu Maikori, and CEO, Abuchi Peter Ugwu, were present at the event. Top government officials also attended, including the Commissioner for Tourism, Culture, and Hospitality, Hon. Cornelius Doeyok.

For Chocolate City, this project is personal. Over 20 years ago, the company started as small campus events at the University of Jos. Today, it is one of Africa’s biggest entertainment brands. Audu Maikori said, “Without Jos, there would be no Chocolate City. This project is deeply personal for us. We want to create opportunities that will change lives where our journey began.”
The new incubator will help young creatives in Plateau State. It will have production facilities and training programmes. There will also be a community radio station to give young talents a platform to share their work. The project will support young people, women, and people with disabilities.
Governor Caleb Mutfwang said he is happy about the partnership. He promised to support any project that will grow the creative industry in Plateau State. “Plateau State has produced many creatives doing wonders not just in Nigeria, but globally,” he said.
Hon. Cornelius Doeyok said the plan is to use the state’s talent to grow the economy and make Plateau famous for creativity again. CEO Abuchi Ugwu added that the project will give young people the tools and connections they need to compete globally and earn from their skills.
This project comes as Chocolate City celebrates its 20th anniversary. For them, it feels like coming full circle. Jos is known for its cool weather, rich culture, and strong creative history. Many believe this new incubator will produce the next generation of stars in music, film, and media.
The plan also supports Nigeria’s goal to grow the economy beyond oil under President Tinubu’s government. People hope this partnership will become a model for other states in Nigeria to follow.
