Veteran entertainer and activist Charly Boy has addressed the recent change of the iconic Charly Boy Bus Stop in Bariga, Lagos. The stop, which many knew by his name, was recently renamed to Olamide Adedeji (Baddo) Bus Stop by the Bariga Local Council Development Area.
Reacting to the news on X, Charly Boy didn’t hold back. He made it clear that taking down his name doesn’t erase the impact he has made. According to him, the bus stop was named by the people—those he stood with and fought for—not by politicians.
“Dem say dey don chang the name of Charly Boy Bus Stop. Hmmm. Very interesting,” he wrote. He followed with a powerful message: “You can rename a place… but you can’t rename a legacy.”
Charly Boy, also known as Area Fada, reminded everyone that his presence in Bariga wasn’t about fame or politics. He said he never begged for acceptance or wore agbada to seek titles. To him, the renaming is an act of fear—an attempt to erase the voice of someone who challenged the system.
He added that while signboards can be replaced, the truth can’t be erased. “Legacy isn’t on a signboard. It’s in the hearts you changed, the voices you awakened, and the fear you planted in corrupt souls.”
Charly Boy made it known that he’s not going anywhere. “Still here. Still standing. Still fighting,” he declared. To him, his legacy lives on, not in metal signs but in the memories and minds of the people.
“Area Fada no dey finish,” he reminded them.
