Iyabo Ojo is a Nigerian actress, director, and producer who has built one of the most enduring careers in the Yoruba and mainstream Nollywood film industries, with more than 150 film credits to her name.

Born Alice Iyabo Ogunro on December 21, 1977, in Lagos, she is of Yoruba descent from Abeokuta, Ogun State. She attended National College in Gbagada before studying Estate Management at Lagos State Polytechnic, where her passion for the arts eventually pulled her toward acting. She joined the Actors Guild of Nigeria in 1998 and made her debut in the film Satanic that same year.

Ojo’s breakthrough came in 2002 with the Yoruba-language film Baba Darijinwon, a role that established her as a rising star and set her on a path to becoming one of the industry’s most recognisable faces. Over the following two decades, she built a filmography spanning both English and Yoruba productions, with notable titles including Jagun Jagun, Bolutife, Ololufe, and Okunkun Biribiri, while also branching into directing and producing under her own production outfit.

Beyond acting, Ojo has become a prominent businesswoman and philanthropist, founding the Pinkies Foundation to support underprivileged children, particularly those with disabilities. She is also the CEO of Fespris Limited, a company spanning beauty, hospitality, and lifestyle ventures, and has grown into one of Nigeria’s most followed entertainment personalities across social media.

Her contributions to Nollywood have earned her multiple nominations and awards, including a Movie Personality of the Year win in 2015 for her thought-provoking film Silence, cementing her status as both a veteran performer and an influential figure shaping the next generation of Nigerian filmmaking.
