Josh2Funny, born Chibuike Josh Alfred, is a Nigerian comedian, actor, director, and musician whose viral skits and international television appearances have made him one of the most recognisable Nigerian comedic exports.
Born on December 18, 1990, in Anambra State, Alfred relocated with his family to Mushin, Lagos, at the age of eight, an upbringing in one of the city’s most vibrant neighbourhoods that shaped the urban, relatable tone of his comedy. He studied Computer Science at Yaba College of Technology before pursuing entertainment full-time.
Alfred’s career began in 2011 when he entered the Project Raw Talent Hunt Competition, where a comedic Igbo-language interpretation of Rihanna’s ‘Work’ won him early recognition. He rose to wider fame through his viral #DontLeaveMe skit and challenge, which drew international attention, including coverage from CNN and the BBC, and helped establish him as a leading figure in Nigeria’s digital comedy scene.
Beyond skits, Alfred has appeared as a guest on the Africa Magic television series My Flatmates alongside fellow comedians Basketmouth and Buchi, and has built a career blending stand-up comedy, acting, and music. In 2023, he gained international exposure by competing in the 18th season of America’s Got Talent, performing a speed-reading comedy sketch during the audition round.
Today, Alfred serves as CEO of Josh2Funny Entertainment, a production company focused on content for African audiences, and has received honours including Comedian of the Year at the 2020 City People Entertainment Awards and Content Creator of the Year at the 2021 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, reflecting his standing as one of Nigeria’s most decorated digital-era comedians.
