Early Life

Sydney Egere, professionally known as Sydney Talker, was born on 26 January 1996 in Delta State, Nigeria. Raised by a single mother, he received his primary and secondary education in Benin City, Edo State, before going on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Benin.

Career

Sydney Talker’s career began in 2015, when he started creating and uploading comedy skits to Instagram, initially building a small following through relatable, everyday Nigerian humour. He broke through more widely in 2016 with the viral skit “The Poor Power Supply,” which earned him the nickname “Nigeria’s Mr Bean” and also the moniker “The Towel Guy,” both references to his exaggerated facial expressions and signature comedic style.

Over the years, Sydney Talker has collaborated with a wide range of Nigerian A-list celebrities, including Davido, Don Jazzy, Nasty Blaq, Craze Clown, Pankeroy, Taaooma, Beverly Osu and Nengi. He has also crossed over into acting, appearing in Nollywood film roles alongside established actors. In January 2022, he expanded his business interests by founding Neville Records, a record label whose roster has included Afrobeats artist Khaid. He was nominated for the 25 Under 25 Award organised by SME100 Africa in recognition of his entrepreneurial and creative achievements.
