Early Life

Oluwabukola Sekinat Ajoke Wright, known professionally as Bukky Wright, was born on 31 March 1967 in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria, to a Christian father and a Muslim mother. She went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Lagos.

Career

Bukky Wright began her acting career in 1996, quickly establishing herself as a household name across both Yoruba and English-language Nollywood. Her breakthrough came with the landmark 1999 Yoruba film ‘Saworoide,’ which elevated her prominence significantly. She went on to appear in Wale Adenuga’s popular television series ‘Super Story,’ as well as films including ‘The Narrow Path,’ ‘Gidi Blues’ and ‘Pure Honey,’ building a reputation as a versatile performer capable of portraying complex, emotionally rich characters.

Beyond acting, Bukky Wright has built a career as a businesswoman, running the fashion house B Collections and the beauty spa B Wright. In 2014, she extended her public profile into politics, contesting for a seat in the Ogun State House of Assembly.

Personal Life

Bukky Wright has children from a previous marriage, including her son Ojayy Wright, who has pursued a career in music. She has since become a grandmother, a milestone she has celebrated publicly with joy.
