WAVE$TAR was born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria. He is currently a student at the University of Lagos, balancing his academic studies with a fast-growing music career. His entry into music began during the COVID-19 lockdown, when he started experimenting with freestyle recordings.

Career

WAVE$TAR built early attention through a series of freestyles and pointed releases, including his diss track “Trust Fund Syndrome,” which challenged the credibility of music promotion platforms and sparked wide discussion online. He went on to release his debut mixtape, “$TARLIFE: THE MIXTAPE,” in 2024, showcasing his lyrical range and genre-blending approach that fuses traditional African sounds with Afrobeat rhythms and a futuristic, melodic edge.

His biggest breakout moment came with “Escaladizzy,” a 2025 collaboration with fellow rising artist Mavo. The track became a viral smash, driving TikTok dance challenges and climbing streaming charts, peaking at number 17 on the UK Official Afrobeats Chart and later receiving a remix featuring Zlatan, Ayra Starr and Shallipopi. WAVE$TAR has continued building his collaborative catalogue, teaming up with Nigerian rapper Blaqbonez, KindlyNxsh and Brotherkupa on the track “Prayers Up,” and releasing further singles including “sidechick!” and “PRADA BBY.”
