Early Life
Jeremiah Pam Gyang was born on October 13, 1981, in Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria. He grew up in a musically rich environment as the son of the late Reverend Luke Dung Gyang, a respected musician and clergyman active in the 1970s and 1980s. Jeremiah displayed extraordinary musical talent from an early age and was regarded as a wunderkind, mastering both the piano and guitar before the age of ten. His early exposure to music shaped his career and helped define his unique sound.
Career
Jeremiah began his professional music journey working at the Sheraton Hotels and Towers in Abuja as a keyboardist, percussionist, and vocalist. After three years, he also transitioned to Quest Media Studios in 2002, where he honed his skills as a songwriter and music producer for two years.
In 2004, Jeremiah rose to national prominence with the release of the hit single Na Ba Ka (“I Give You”), a groundbreaking song that brought contemporary Hausa music into mainstream Nigerian pop culture. His sound a fusion of Northern folk influences, soul, and modern instrumentation earned him critical acclaim and a devoted following. Known for his lyrical depth and rich melodies, Jeremiah has remained an influential figure in the Nigerian music landscape.
Also, In 2010, Jeremiah married his longtime partner, Ladi Otache. The couple resides in Jos with their two daughters, maintaining a quiet and family-centered lifestyle.
Jeremiah Gyang has also carved out a distinct space in Nigerian music by bridging cultural sounds with modern influences. His legacy as a pioneer of contemporary Hausa music continues to inspire new generations of artists.
