Early life

Korede Bello, Which means “Bring Fortune,” was born in Lagos State, where he completed his primary and secondary school education. He is of Yoruba ethnicity and began performing at the age of 7, initially using the stage name “African Prince.”

While in primary school, Korede Bello wrote his first song after forming a music group with a friend. He ventured into music professionally while in secondary school, recording songs in the studio and eventually releasing his first single, “Forever.” In 2017, he released his debut album, Belloved. In 2016, his hit song “Do Like That” achieved Gold certification in Canada.

Career

Korede studied Mass Communication at the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, earning a Higher National Diploma certificate. He is also an Associate Member of the Institute of Information Management.

After the release of his first single, which received positive reviews, Korede was introduced to Don Jazzy by his manager, Casmir Uwaegbute.

They recorded several songs together that impressed Don Jazzy. On February 28, 2014, he signed with Mavin Records, where he released popular songs like “African Princess” and “Godwin.” He left the Mavin label in 2021.

In 2021, Korede Bello received a Gold Certification Award from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for his hit single “Do Like That,” making it the highest-certified digital single of all time for both him and Mavin Records. He also earned a Gold Award Certification in Canada in 2022.

Korede is involved in various humanitarian efforts, such as the Project Pink Blue Walk for Cancer Awareness in Abuja in 2015 and 2017. He is a Mental Health Advocate, aiming to end the stigma surrounding mental health and support young people living with mental illness.

In 2015, the Nigerian Police Force named him its first Youth Ambassador under Inspector General of Police IGP Solomon E. Arase. In 2018, Korede was honored as an Honorary Superintendent of Police by the IGP.
