The paternity battle surrounding the late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, better known as Mohbad, has taken a new turn. On Tuesday, an Ikorodu Magistrate Court ruled that DNA tests will be carried out on Mohbad’s two-year-old son, Liam Aloba.

The ruling followed an application filed by father of late Mohbad, Joseph Aloba, who has long demanded that a test be conducted to determine the boy’s biological father. The case listed Mohbad’s widow, Omowunmi Cynthia Aloba, as the respondent.

During the hearing, Joseph Aloba’s lawyer, Augustine Adegbemi, presented the motion, while Omowunmi’s counsel, Kabir Akingbolu, raised no objection to the request.

Delivering judgment, Magistrate Adefisoye Sonuga ordered that not one but two DNA tests will be conducted. The court mandated that one test take place in Nigeria and another abroad, ensuring the results are beyond dispute. Both examinations will be carried out in accredited hospitals, with representatives from both parties present when the samples are collected.

The court further adjourned the matter to November 11, when the outcome of the tests is expected to be presented.

This development adds a fresh layer of drama to the ongoing controversies surrounding Mohbad’s death and the disputes that followed. Since the singer’s passing in September 2023, his family has been caught in heated disagreements over inheritance, paternity, and the circumstances of his death.

Fans have taken to social media to express mixed reactions—while some applaud the decision as a step toward clarity, others feel the continuous disputes may be deepening the family’s pain instead of bringing closure.

For now, all eyes remain on the court’s next sitting in November, when the results of the DNA tests could finally bring answers to one of the most debated issues tied to Mohbad’s legacy.
