Fuji legend King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, also known as KWAM 1, is making headlines again, but this time it’s for an apology. The music icon has issued a heartfelt statement following a heated altercation at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja that led to a six-month flight ban.

In a video, KWAM 1 expressed his deep regret over the “unfortunate” incident with ValueJet airline staff. He denied the claims by the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) that he was carrying alcohol, a substance prohibited from being brought on board in quantities over 100ml.

KWAM 1 clarified his side of the story, stating that he suffers from chronic dehydration and always carries a water flask. “The flask I carried on that particular day contained only water — not alcohol, as wrongly alleged,” he insisted. He also claimed the flask was empty during security checks and was filled with water later at the airport lounge.

This apology comes after the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, weighed in on the issue, describing it as a “temporary loss of sanity” and placing KWAM 1 on a no-fly list pending a full investigation. The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has also suspended the licenses of the pilots involved and petitioned the Attorney General for a thorough investigation.

With a six-month ban on the table, it’s a tense situation for the music star. While he’s said sorry, the official investigations are just getting started. It seems this airport drama is far from over.
