emPawa Africa artist Namenj continues to see strong streaming numbers on his single “Dama,” a collaboration with fellow Hausa star Hamisu Breaker that has become one of his most-streamed records to date.
Released off his project “The North Star,” “Dama” pairs Namenj’s Afropop-leaning melodies with Hamisu Breaker’s distinctive Hausa delivery, a combination that has helped the track rack up over a million streams on Spotify alone and remain a staple on Arewa playlists years after its release.
The continued performance of “Dama” underlines Namenj’s standing as one of the artists who helped open doors for a new generation of Northern Nigerian singers, having been personally selected by Mr Eazi to lead emPawa’s push into Arewa music.
