Early Life
Born on November 16, 1965, he studied Theatre Arts and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Jos. Saint Obi became a household name in Nollywood, remembered for his intense performances and contributions to the film industry.
Career
Saint Obi began his acting journey in 1996 with a television commercial for Peugeot. He quickly gained popularity and went on to feature in more than 60 films. His most notable roles appeared in Candle Light, Goodbye Tomorrow, Heart of Gold, and several other Nollywood classics.
In 2002, he produced his first film Take Me to Maama, where he also played the lead role. He later established Agwhyte International Limited, a media company with operations in Nigeria and the United States, focused on production, talent development, and brand management.
Saint Obi married Lydia Saint Nwafor, a senior executive at MTN from Anambra State. Together, they had three children. The marriage, however, ended in 2021 after 15 years.
Throughout his career, Saint Obi received accolades including Best Actor in Africa at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, Most Prominent Actor in Nigeria by City People Entertainment, and Best Actor in a Leading Role at the Nollywood Movie Awards.
He passed away on May 7, 2023, at the age of 57, after battling a prolonged illness.
