Early Life
Yul Edochie was Born on January 7, 1982, Yul Edochie hails from Anambra State, Nigeria. He is the youngest of six children and the son of legendary Nigerian actor Pete Edochie. Named after Russian actor Yul Brynner, he spent his early years in Lagos and Enugu.
Yul later attended the University of Port Harcourt, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Dramatic Arts, setting the foundation for his acting career.
Career
Yul began his Nollywood journey in 2005 with the movie The Exquires, where he acted alongside Justus Esiri and Enebeli Elebuwa. His major breakthrough came in 2007 when he starred with Genevieve Nnaji and Desmond Elliot in Wind of Glory. In 2015, he took his passion further by founding a film academy in Lagos to train aspiring actors and filmmakers.
Expanding his influence beyond entertainment, Yul entered politics in 2017, running for governor of Anambra State under the Democratic Peoples Congress party. Although he did not win, the move showcased his commitment to leadership and change.
Yul married May Aligwe at the age of 21, and they had four children together. Their marriage faced challenges in 2022 when Yul revealed he had married actress Judy Austin, with whom he has two sons. Tragically, his eldest son passed away in March 2023 after a seizure.
Yul Edochie continues to leave a mark on Nollywood and Nigerian public life through his work, personal evolution, and bold choices.
