Veteran Nigerian comic actor Wale Akorede, popularly known as Okunnu, has publicly accused movie marketer Akeem Balogun, CEO of Olasco Films, of failing to pay him for a major film project completed years ago.
In a trending interview with media personality Olugbenga Oropo Valentine on the SAWORO program, Akorede revealed that the dispute centers on the movie titled Aare. The actor emphasized that he was responsible for writing, directing, and playing the lead role in the production, which was released in two parts simultaneously.
“I once did a movie for Olasco and he didn’t give me anything. Not even N5 for pure water till this moment,” Akorede stated during the broadcast.
Okunnu further clarified that despite the commercial release of both Part 1 and Part 2, he received no compensation.
“I didn’t see a dime from it. I will be lying if I say Olasco gave me anything from the money made from my sweat,” he added.
The actor expressed deep-seated resentment over the situation, noting that the unpaid earnings represent his hard labor. He also voiced his refusal to let the matter go.
“I haven’t forgiven Olasco. Mr Akeem Balogun Olasco, I don’t know about tomorrow, but as at the moment, I haven’t forgiven Olasco.”
Addressing the possibility of resolution, Akorede remained skeptical about receiving his dues in this lifetime.
“I don’t know if I will later be paid on judgement day,” the actor remarked.
While the project was completed several years ago, Akorede noted that the lack of payment remains a significant point of contention.
So far, Akeem Balogun, CEO of Olasco Films, has not issued a public response to these specific allegations.
