Singer Raoul Njeng-Njeng, popularly known as Skales, has revealed how prayer played a major role in the success of his career-defining hit, Shake Body. The star, who once faced career stagnation after leaving Banky W’s Empire Mates Entertainment (EME), said his breakthrough came after attending the Shiloh programme of Living Faith Church (Winners’ Chapel) in 2013.

According to Skales, he was introduced to the programme by fellow artist Timaya. During the service, worshippers were asked to write down seven prayer requests. Skales said he boldly wrote the same request seven times — for a “global hit song.”

That prayer, he believes, manifested with the release of Shake Body in 2014. The track not only reignited his career but also continues to find new life years later. Recently, the song resurfaced as a viral sensation after Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal and some of his teammates were seen dancing to it, proving its timeless global appeal.

Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) page, Skales shared:

“In 2013, @timayatimaya took me to Shiloh and we were told to write down 7 things we are praying for. I wrote a song that will take me to the ends of the world 7 times… fast forward till today, he gave me a divine unending song. When they think it’s over, another thing pops up about this damn song… Lord Jesus, thank you.”

Skales’ story is a mix of faith, resilience, and music magic. From a struggling artist to a global Afrobeats voice, his journey highlights how one prayer and one song can truly change everything.
