Early Life
Timothy Chukwudi Godfrey was born on August 26, 1980, in Kaduna, Nigeria, to Mr. and Mrs. Victor Godfrey. He is the second of six children. Though originally from Anambra State, Tim Godfrey spent his early years in Kaduna, where he completed his primary education. In recognition of his contributions to music and the arts, he received an honorary Doctorate in Fine Art and Musicology from Trinity International University of Ambassadors in Georgia, USA, in 2018.
Career
Tim Godfrey launched his music career with passion and excellence. He founded Rox Nation, a gospel record label, and Xtreme Crew, a high-energy music group known for its dynamic performances. He also created the Fearless Gospel Concert, an annual worship event that draws thousands and has featured global gospel icons like Kirk Franklin, Travis Greene, Israel Houghton, Marvin Sapp, and JJ Hairston.
His 2018 hit Nara, featuring Travis Greene, catapulted him to global acclaim. The song resonated deeply and garnered millions of views. In 2019, he collaborated with Israel Houghton on Toya and with JJ Hairston on Onaga. Tim remains a regular performer at The Experience, one of Africa’s largest gospel concerts.
Tim Godfrey proposed to his fiancée Erica on Valentine’s Day and married her on April 23, 2022. Together, they continue to inspire many through music and ministry.
