Nollywood actor Olatayo Amokade, aka Ijebu, asked BBNaija winner Imisi to end her public fight with her mother and make peace in a video on Instagram.
Imisi and her mother have been in a public dispute since her N150 million BBNaija prize win. After winning, her mother said she had been abandoned. This statement drew wide attention and sparked talks across social media.
The conflict follows Imisi’s revelations on the reality show about her tough childhood. She shared that she was raped at 12 and had an abortion at 13. Her father sent her out of the house at 11. She later sold fufu with her grandmother before her home burned down.
Responding to her mother’s claims, Imisi questioned the timing of the complaints. She pointed to their strained relationship in the past. She said: “Before I won BBNaija, I was living my life and you would not even call me in one or two years, so why is there a problem now?” She also highlighted her support for family members: “God knows I tried. I still sent money to you last week and four days ago. Will I kill myself? You cannot remove N1 out of the money I won for anybody’s comfort. I have 100 people in the family looking up to me alone.”
Ijebu encouraged peace, respect, and forgiveness. He said: “Imisi, I know you are a good girl. The Bible said we should honour our parents. This evening or tomorrow morning, I want you to visit your mother, go on your knees, hold her legs, and tell her you are sorry. Let her pray for you. No matter what she might have done to you, she is still your mini god on earth. After this, I don’t want to hear any dragging again online. If I hear anything again, I will be so mad at you.”
