Early Life

Ashny, born Ashionye Charity Edike, originates from Delta State but grew up in Lagos. From a young age, she developed a strong passion for creative expression, and over time she trained as a seamstress and fashion designer a foundation that later supported her fashion label.

Her early years, spent balancing hustle and hope, shaped her drive and ambition, grounding her resolve to succeed.

Career

Ashny officially began her music journey in 2013, navigating initial struggles in search of a stable record deal. However, by 2015, she connected with mentor Koffi Tha Guru, who helped nurture her talent through collaborations and guided her artistic direction. Then in 2019, she released her debut EP “Rough Play”, signaling her official entry into the industry.

Following years of perseverance, she unveiled her 10-track album “Ashny Ain’t Playing” in October 2023 a project blending Afropop and soul themes of hope, love, survival, and consciousness. Since then, she has consistently expanded her repertoire. In 2024 she released the album “Femme Fatale”, and by 2025 she made history as the first Nigerian female artist to release two major albums alongside five EPs in a single year.

Beyond music, Ashny has also built a career in acting featuring in multiple Nollywood films and launched her fashion brand, “Ashionye”. Her multidisciplinary efforts reflect her ambition to shape a creative empire rooted in authenticity, art, and empowerment. .

Ashny’s journey reflects resilience, versatility, and ambition. From humble beginnings in Lagos and Delta State to carving out a unique space in music, film, and fashion, she has shown that true artistry embraces multiple forms.
