Nigerian superstars Tems and Burna Boy have made history on the Billboard Hot 100. The duo now holds the record for the most entries by African artists in the chart’s history. They surpass the previous record of seven entries set by South African rock band Seether. Both Tems and Burna Boy now have eight entries each.
The milestone followed the release of J. Cole’s new album, The Fall-Off. The two Nigerian stars appear on songs from the project. Tems earned her eighth entry with “Bounce Road Blues,” a collaboration that also features Future. The song debuted at No. 34. At the same time, Burna Boy reached his eighth entry with “Only You,” which entered at No. 78.
Tems has enjoyed a strong start to 2026. She has scored three Billboard Hot 100 entries this year alone. These include “Raindance” with Dave and her solo single “What You Need.” As a result, she leads all African artists in total entries on the chart this year.
Burna Boy has also set another record. He is now the first African artist to appear on the Billboard Hot 100 for six consecutive years. His chart run began in 2021 with “Loved By You.” He returned in 2022 with “Last Last.” In 2023, he charted with “Sittin’ On Top Of The World” and “Talibans II.” He followed up in 2024 with “Just Like Me” and “We Pray.” He added “WGFT” in 2025 and now “Only You” in 2026.
With this achievement, Tems and Burna Boy strengthen Nigeria’s influence on the global music stage.
