Frank Donga, born Kunle Idowu, is a Nigerian actor, comedian, and filmmaker best known for turning a single web-series character into one of Nollywood’s most enduring comic personas.

Born on October 13, 1990, in Lagos, Nigeria, Idowu studied at Olabisi Onabanjo University before beginning his career as a news reporter, a role he has credited with sharpening the comic timing he would later bring to acting. He rose to fame between 2013 and 2015 through The Interview, a web series on Ndani TV in which he played the character Frank Donga, an unassuming and endlessly relatable job-seeker, a role so popular that the character’s name effectively became his own public identity.

The Interview earned Idowu a nomination for Best Actor in a Comedy at the 2015 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards and opened the door to a run of notable film roles, including appearances in The Wedding Party and its sequel, two of the highest-grossing films in Nollywood history. He also took the lead role of Akande, a struggling job-seeking graduate, in the acclaimed 2017 film Hakkunde, a performance that showcased range beyond his comic web-series persona.

More recently, Idowu took on the role of Shina in the Netflix original series Ololade, a dramatic departure from the Frank Donga character that introduced him to audiences unfamiliar with his earlier comedic work. He has spoken openly about navigating the challenge of being closely associated with a single character while continuing to seek roles that stretch his range as an actor.

Alongside his acting career, Idowu has built a parallel life abroad, now based in Canada and working as a Multimedia Communications Specialist with the Government of Saskatchewan, a role that reflects his continued interest in storytelling and communications outside the entertainment industry.
