Salis Sagir, known professionally as S.James, is a Nigerian Afropop singer and rapper from the northern part of Nigeria, recognised for a sound that blends melodic Afropop hooks with Hausa rap cadences.
S.James was born and is based in the Tarauni area of Kano, a city long regarded as one of the cultural centres of Northern Nigeria’s music and film industries. Growing up immersed in that environment shaped his early exposure to both Hausa musical traditions and the wider Afropop sounds gaining popularity across the country.
His discography is anchored by a sprawling album project titled “Mamaki,” which runs to more than sixteen tracks and has served as the base from which he continues to pull new singles for his growing fanbase. Standout cuts from the project include “Me Yake Faruwa” and “Dama,” both of which showcase his storytelling ability and versatility across different tempos and moods.
