Grey-Cee is a Nigerian artist from Benue State, belonging to the Idoma ethnic group. Her stage name is drawn from her given name, Grace, reshaped into something that still connects to her identity while standing out creatively. She has described her Idoma heritage as central to the resilience, discipline and patience that continue to shape both her life and her music.

Career

Grey-Cee has built her career independently, without the backing of a major label, describing her journey as one shaped by sleepless nights, financial pressure and moments that tested her belief in herself. She cites Adele, Asa, Lauryn Hill and Tiwa Savage as key influences on her emotionally driven, storytelling-based sound. Her single “Suru” grew directly out of that period of hardship, written after her producer gave her a beat during an evening of deep personal reflection, and the song has become a defining showcase of the raw, personal songwriting that runs through her catalogue.

Her project “Aura EP” brings that same personal narrative together across its tracklist: “Suru” is introspective and reflective, “Player” explores love and heartbreak, and “Dance” leans into pure joy. Grey-Cee has spoken about her recent collaboration with producer Giant Beatz as a first for her, one that pushed her to bring her best work and explore new creative ideas.
