Early Life

Dela was born on August 13, 2002, which makes her about 23 years old as of 2025. She hails from Lagos, Nigeria. Growing up, she listened to her parents play music by legends like Lagbaja, which influenced her musical direction later on.

Career

Dela officially stepped into the Nigerian music scene around December 2022 with a feature on the EP “There Are No Rules To This” by Emaxee. Shortly thereafter, she released her debut two‑pack single “Dela” comprising the tracks “Solomon” and “Save Me”. Her sound blends Afrobeat, R&B, pop and hip‑hop influences. In early 2024 she followed with a 7‑track EP titled MIOSIS, which introduced her more widely in the Afrobeats scene.

Dela has emphasized her desire to create music that reflects her authentic self and explores fusion genres. One of her standout tracks, “Watch Over Me”, released August 13 2025, showcases a more expressive side of the artist. She continues to work on acoustic versions of her songs and new releases aimed at expanding her reach.

Dela is a young Nigerian artist making a fresh impact in the Afrobeats/R&B space.
