Marvin Oseremen Ukanigbe, popularly known as Mavo, was born on November 1, 2003, in Ekpoma, Edo State, Nigeria. From a young age, Mavo showed a deep love for music, experimenting with makeshift instruments during his secondary school years. His creativity and passion quickly set him apart as he began sharing early tracks on SoundCloud, attracting attention for his raw talent and unique style.
At 21, Mavo continues to build a name as a rising Afrobeats sensation. Rooted in the vibrant cultural heritage of Edo State, he blends his life experiences with rhythmic sounds that reflect his Nigerian identity and youthful energy.
Career
Mavo’s music journey officially began during his university days, where he refined his skills and developed a distinctive sound known as “Burbur Music.” This genre merges Afrobeats, rap, swagger, and Nigerian street slang, creating a fresh and original vibe that resonates with today’s generation. Influenced by artists like Duncan Mighty, Wizkid, Trippie Redd, and Young Thug, Mavo crafts songs that balance lyrical creativity with catchy, street-driven rhythms.
In 2023, he also released his debut project Ukanigbe, marking the start of his professional journey. He later followed up with SANKO and SANKO II, solidifying his place in the new wave of Nigerian artists. His 2025 project, Kilometer EP, expanded his global reach and streaming audience. Mavo’s major breakthrough came with Escaladizzy, featuring WAVE$TAR, which went viral and peaked at number 17 on the UK Official Afrobeats Chart.
