Early Life
Obinna Kelvin Anyanwu, professionally known as Waconzy, was born on August 10, 1983, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. He completed his primary and secondary education in the city.
He recorded his first song in high school in 1998. By 2000, he had gained admission to the Federal University of Technology Owerri, where he earned a degree in Project Management. After completing his NYSC in 2006, he joined the Project Management Institute in the U.S. and earned his PMP certification. In 2008, he founded Dv8 Media.
Career
Waconzy released “I Celebrate” in 2008, with its music video directed by Clarence Peters. The song became a national hit, leading to the release of his debut album I Celebrate in 2010. He followed up with Money Back Guarantee in 2013 and a greatest hits compilation in 2015.
He has collaborated with notable artists including Banky W, Duncan Mighty, Naeto C, Faze, and Truth Hurts.
Through the Waconzy Foundation, he launched campaigns against malaria and fed thousands of underprivileged Nigerians. His commitment to social causes continues to earn him respect beyond music.
Waconzy continues to blend music and meaningful impact, carving out a legacy that goes beyond the charts. With talent, business acumen, and heart, he remains a respected voice in Nigerian entertainment and philanthropy.
