The Nigeria Police Force has released Nollywood actress Doris Ogala in Lagos after officers rearrested her in Abuja shortly after she fulfilled her bail conditions. A police team from the Zone 2 Command reportedly transported her back to Lagos, where the situation drew public attention and legal concern.

Tension reportedly rose when Ogala’s lawyer, Marshal Abubakar, attempted to document the police action. Officers allegedly confronted him, seized his mobile phones, and compelled him to travel alongside the actress to Lagos. The incident prompted intervention from civil rights activists.
At the Zone 2 Command in Lagos, Take It Back Movement coordinator Jamiu Towolawi, popularly known as Jharmo, stepped in and demanded Ogala’s immediate release. His intervention reportedly played a key role in securing her freedom, as he later stood as surety for her bail.
Following her release, Pastor Chris Okafor, founder of Grace Nation Liberation City, met privately with Ogala. The meeting reportedly focused on reconciliation and de-escalation of the ongoing dispute between both parties. Sources said the discussion lasted nearly an hour and emphasized peace and resolution.
Police authorities reportedly granted Ogala bail on health grounds and later returned phones seized from her and her lawyer. Officers allegedly requested the deletion of arrest footage, a condition that activists rejected before Ogala was eventually allowed to leave.
Ogala’s arrest occurred during a live-streamed interview, where viewers witnessed the moment police arrived at her residence. The case stems from allegations she made against Pastor Okafor over an alleged breach of a promise to marry. Through her legal team, she demanded significant damages, citing emotional, financial, and personal losses. While acknowledging that marriage cannot be forced, her lawyers insist the law provides remedies for broken promises and related harm.
