Analysts at Optimum Global have shared their prediction for the naira in the second half of 2025. They believe the currency will trade between N1,500 and N1,600 if Nigeria’s economy stays stable. This was stated in their new investment report for the year.
The report noted that the naira has remained steady in recent months because of the Central Bank’s actions. They supported the market by selling dollars when needed, especially when oil prices were falling. This helped reduce the pressure on the naira.

At the start of the year in January, the naira traded at around N1,537 per dollar. By the end of the month, it had strengthened to N1,480 due to a rise in oil prices. However, from February to April, the naira lost value again. Oil prices fell below $60 per barrel after OPEC said it would increase oil production. By the end of April, the naira was at N1,596 per dollar.
Things changed from May to June when oil prices started to rise again. Tensions in the Middle East pushed prices up, and the naira gained strength, trading at around N1,530 by the end of June. This was a 3% improvement from its April low.
The report also explained that Nigeria’s external reserves grew to about $38.5 billion. This gave the Central Bank more power to protect the currency from market shocks. Analysts believe that if the Central Bank continues to sell dollars when needed and reserves remain strong, the naira will stay stable in the coming months.
