Early Life
Michael Oladapo Afolarin, professionally known as Mike Afolarin, was born on September 1, 1993. He attended Federal Government College, Ijanikin, Lagos State for his secondary education. He later earned a bachelorโs degree in Economics from the University of Lagos in 2016.
Career
Mikeโs introduction to acting began in 2013 during his university days when he performed in a stage play titled Magic Time. His on-screen debut came in 2018, starring as one of the lead characters in the film Kasala, alongside notable actors like Chimezie Imo and Tomiwa Tegbe.
In 2022, Mike gained widespread recognition for his lead role in the Netflix series Far From Home. He portrayed Ishaya, a talented and determined teenager from a poor background striving to become a famous artist, even at the cost of friendships and family safety.
The same year, Mike also featured as Akinzo in the popular Nigerian comedy-drama Battle on Buka Street, where he played a comedic yet respected youth leader of the Otanwa community. The film became the second highest-grossing Nigerian film at the box office and set a record by earning N135 million in a single day.
Mikeโs filmography also includes roles in Your Excellency (2019), Soรณlรจ (2021), The Wait, Adire (2023), and upcoming projects such as House of Gaโa (2024), Asiri Ade (2024) directed by Adeoluwa Owu, and the crime thriller Red Circle (2025), directed by Akay Mason.
