Early Life
Sophie Alakija was Born in Lagos into an Islamic family, she grew up in the Surulere area. Her heritage is both Lebanese and Nigerian her father is of Lebanese descent, while her mother hails from the Efik ethnic group in Cross River State. Her multicultural background has influenced her identity and presence both on and off screen.
Career
Sophie Alakija first gained public attention in 2010 when she starred as the lead dancer in Wizkid’s hit music video Holla at Your Boy. This role introduced her to the entertainment scene and paved the way for her acting career.
She has since featured in several Nollywood productions including Drawing Strands, Getting Over Him, and Small Chops. Her television credits include roles in Scandals (a Ghana-Nigeria collaboration), Halita, and Assistant Madams. In 2020, she played a lead role in Muslim Wife, and in 2021, she starred in My Village People.
Sophie married Wale Alakija in a traditional Islamic ceremony in March 2016. The couple had two sons, Aydin and Caliph, before parting ways in 2020.
