Content creator Habeeb Hamzat, widely known as Peller, has responded to TikTok’s decision to temporarily restrict night-time livestreaming in Nigeria. The platform issued an in-app notification to eligible users, announcing that livestreams would no longer be accessible during late hours while it reviews safety measures and content standards. This update aligns with TikTok’s ongoing efforts to curb explicit content and ensure a safer environment for its growing Nigerian audience.
Reacting to the new policy in a video shared on Monday, Peller assured his followers that the restriction would not affect his financial stability. He explained that his income extends far beyond TikTok gifts, emphasizing that he earns substantial amounts from brand endorsements, many of which are valued at tens of millions of naira. According to him, these partnerships form the core of his revenue and remain unaffected by TikTok’s adjustment.
He also noted that creators often reinvest in their communities by giving back to their supporters through regular giveaways. Despite this, Peller acknowledged that the new rule could impact smaller creators who depend heavily on night-time livestreams for visibility and earnings. He stressed that such creators might struggle more because late-night sessions tend to attract higher traffic and engagement.
Peller highlighted TikTok’s unique advantage for emerging creators, pointing out that the platform’s algorithm allows users to grow faster than on other social media sites. He contrasted this with Instagram, where creators often need extensive posting before gaining meaningful traction.
Reaffirming his confidence, he said people expecting him to suffer financially misunderstand his income structure, making it clear that his career remains secure.
