Bella Shmurda, the Nigerian Afrobeats star, recently opened up about what he would be doing if he wasn’t making music. In a chat on the Afrobeats Intelligence podcast with Joey Akan, he said he believes preaching or motivational speaking could have been his true calling.
The singer, known for hits like Triumphant, said spirituality plays a major role in his life and music. “Everybody has spirituality, you just have to discover it. I feel like if I wasn’t an artist, I might be a preacher or motivational speaker. I feel like that is my purpose, and I’ve been trying to implement it in every of my music.”
Bella explained that connecting deeply with people is something he does naturally. He believes it’s part of why he’s here. “If I wasn’t doing music, I would have been a motivational speaker. I easily cheer people up. I easily get to people’s deep part. And I feel like that’s my purpose.”
He added that this purpose shows in his songs. For him, music is more than entertainment—it’s a spiritual message. “That’s why I am here. And I should also reflect in my music. You can’t take that away from my music.”
Bella also said his voice carries the emotion and spiritual energy he wants to share. “I can’t do without it. When I’m writing, spirituality has to be there. Even in my voice, you can feel it.”
With this mindset, Bella Shmurda continues to connect with fans in a way that goes beyond beats and lyrics. His music speaks to the soul—and that’s just how he wants it.
