Actress Amber Heard has returned to the public eye at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival for the premiere of Silenced, a documentary exploring how defamation laws are used to intimidate and silence abuse survivors.
The film, directed by Selina Miles, marks Heard’s first sit-down interview since her 2022 legal battle with ex-husband Johnny Depp. Rather than re-litigating the past, the documentary focuses on the systemic “weaponization” of the legal system. Heard, who now lives in Spain, expressed a deep exhaustion regarding her public role.
“This is not about me. I have lost my ability to speak. I am not here to tell my story… In fact, I don’t want to use my voice anymore. That’s the problem,” Heard stated in the film.
