Erigga Erhiga Agarivbie (born 30 March 1987)
Better known by his stage name Erigga, is a Nigerian singer and rapper who has gained prominence for his street-inspired music. He is also widely recognized for his storytelling ability and use of local dialect in his lyrics.
Early Life
Erigga was born in Warri, Delta State, Nigeria, on March 30, 1987. He is the eldest of five children. GStandard rowing up in Warri, his environment heavily influenced his music. Erigga attended International School, where he completed both his primary and secondary education.
Music Career
Erigga began his music journey in 2010 with the release of “Mo Street Gan.” The song became Radio Continental’s theme song, marking his first big break. In 2013, he dropped “Coupé Décalé,” featuring Shuun Bebe. The song’s music video was endorsed by several Nigerian TV stations.
In 2014, Erigga released “Love No Be Garri,” featuring Jimoh Waxiu. His 2017 album, A Trip to the South, featured artists like Orezi, Skales, and Duncan Mighty. The album also showcased his ability to collaborate with top talents in the industry.
In 2018, Erigga’s single “Motivation,” featuring Victor AD, became a huge success. The song gained over a million YouTube views. His highly anticipated 2019 album, The Erigma II, featured big names like Zlatan, MI Abaga, and Vector. The album was also praised for its production and street vibe.
Awards and Nominations
Erigga has earned several nominations for his contributions to Nigerian music. In 2019, he was also nominated for Best Street Hop Artiste at The Headies for “Motivation.” He also received a nomination for Lyricist on the Roll in 2012 for his song “Mo Street Gan.”
