Early Life

Humblesmith, originally from Uruala in the Ideato North local government area of Imo State, southeastern Nigeria, was born on May 14, 1991, into a Catholic family in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.

During his time in secondary school, he developed an interest in dancing and became a member of a group called American Boys.

Later, Ekene moved from Ebonyi State to Asaba City, the capital of Delta State in South-Southern Nigeria, to pursue his dream of a music career.

Upon his arrival in Asaba City, Humblesmith faced the challenge of making ends meet and took up various menial jobs. He soon delved into entertainment as an actor and appeared in multiple films, including Hypertension alongside Sam Loco Efe.

After some time, he returned to Ebonyi State, only to later move back to Delta State with a strong focus on his music career. Determined to succeed, he began performing at shows, often for free, until DG Records took notice of his talent after one of his performances and signed him.

Career And achievements

In 2012, Humblesmith moved to Lagos State, where he recorded his debut single, “Chairmoo,” in 2014. His breakthrough came in 2015 with the release of the hit single “Osinachi,” which featured Phyno and was later remixed with Davido.

The song earned him a nomination for “Best New Act” at the 2016 Nigeria Entertainment Awards and was also nominated for “Hottest Single” at the same event.

In April 2016, Humblesmith collaborated with Flavour N’abania on the song “Jukwese,” which gained significant airplay across the country. To engage his audience, he launched the “#JukweseContest” on Instagram, offering a $2,000 prize to the winner.

Riding on the success of his singles “Osinachi” and “Jukwese,” Humblesmith released his debut album, Osinachi. The album featured collaborations with top artists such as Davido, Patoranking, Phyno, Harrysong, Olamide, and Tiwa Savage.

After a brief hiatus, Humblesmith returned in December 2020 with the release of “Kosi,” a song expressing gratitude to God for his success, with the title meaning “God’s will.”
