Early Life

Lara George was born on 23 June 1978 into the family of Oluwole Bajomo in Lagos State, Nigeria. She attended Queen’s College, Lagos, and later earned a master’s degree in Architecture from the University of Lagos. Her early musical journey began in the university’s campus fellowship choir.

Career

Lara launched her professional music career as a member of the renowned Nigerian gospel group KUSH. Following the group’s disbandment, she went solo and released her debut album Forever In My Heart in 2008. The album featured the hit single “Ijoba Orun,” which brought her critical acclaim and several awards.

Her distinctive voice and spiritually uplifting music earned her accolades, including Voice of the Year at the Nigeria Music Awards (2008), Best Vocal Performance (Female) at The Headies (2010), and Best African Female Gospel Artiste at the Africa Gospel Music Awards (2011). She also received nominations at the KORA Awards and Ben TV Awards in the UK.

Lara has performed at major gospel events globally such as The Experience Lagos, Calabar Festival, Festival of Life UK and Canada, and the Greenbelt Festival UK. She shared the stage with global gospel icons like Don Moen, Mary Mary, Ron Kenoly, and CeCe Winans.

She also made history as one of the first Nigerian gospel artists featured on BET International and served two terms in the BET Voting Academy. Additionally, she served as a judge on Airtel TRACE Music Star.

Now based in Alpharetta, Georgia, USA, Lara is married to Gbenga George and is a mother of two. She also holds the role of Vice President at SoForte Entertainment Distribution Ltd., a pioneering music distribution company in Nigeria.

Lara George has remained a cornerstone in African gospel music, influencing countless artists with her sound and dedication to ministry. Her music continues to touch lives globally, bridging cultures and generations.
