Early Life

Abel Oluwafemi Dosunmu, widely known by his stage name Mega 99, was born in Oshodi, Lagos State, Nigeria. He pursued higher education and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy from Olabisi Onabanjo University. Despite his academic background, his passion for music drove him to carve a niche in the gospel juju music scene.

Career

Mega 99 began his music career in 1994 when he formed his own musical group, Abel Dosunmu and the Mega 99 Band. His journey into gospel juju music officially started with the release of his debut album My Mother in 1998. The album introduced him as a new voice in gospel music with a distinct juju flair.

In 2000, he followed up with Prayer, continuing his trend of spiritually inspired lyrics and traditional rhythms. He gained further recognition with the release of Money in 2004, Ona Ara in 2006, and Weep Not in 2008. Each of these albums strengthened his presence in the gospel juju genre.

His 2010 project Thanksgiving offered a fresh dose of praise-centered music, followed by Victory at Last in 2012, Fear Not in 2013, and Emajo Emayo in 2014. Mega 99 has collaborated with several renowned gospel artists, including Bola Are, showcasing his versatility and ability to connect across generations.

Mega 99 has become a respected figure in gospel juju music, blending deep spiritual messages with rhythmic Yoruba instrumentation. His music continues to uplift and inspire, cementing his legacy in the Nigerian gospel scene.
