Early Life
Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, professionally known as MohBad, was born on January 3, 1996, in Ikorodu, Lagos, Nigeria. From an early age, he displayed an extraordinary connection to music, blending raw emotion with lyrical depth. His upbringing in Lagos infused his sound with authenticity and streetwise energy.
Career
MohBad stepped into the limelight after signing with Marlian Records in 2019. He gained widespread attention with his hit “Ponmo,” followed by crowd favorites like “Peace,” “Sorry,” “Feel Good,” and the explosive “KPK (Ko Por Ke)” with Rexxie. His debut EP Light dropped in 2020, featuring names like Davido, Naira Marley, and Lil Kesh. The project positioned him as a rising force in the Nigerian music scene.
In 2021, he landed multiple nominations at The Beatz Awards and ranked among Audiomack’s top Afrobeat artists. His 2022 track “Peace,” produced by Rexxie, re-entered charts posthumously, reflecting the depth of his fanbase. His final project, Blessed, released in June 2023 under his independent label Imolenization, soared to number one on Apple Music Nigeria. The EP featured Zlatan and Bella Shmurda and showcased MohBad’s evolution as an artist.
On September 12, 2023, MohBad passed away at age 27 following complications from an infection treated by an unlicensed nurse. Authorities later launched an investigation into his death. He left behind a wife, Omawunmi, and a son born in April 2023.
MohBad’s music and message outlived his short yet impactful life. With heartfelt lyrics and fearless honesty, he carved a legacy that continues to resonate across generations.
