Early Life

Samuel Idowu Oluwadarasimi, professionally known as Soundz, born on the 12th of December 2000, he is a Nigerian singer-songwriter and record producer signed to AfroNext Entertainment. He gained recognition in 2022 after releasing his extended play In The Rough, which featured the breakout single “Attention.” The track quickly climbed music charts, debuting at number 6 on the TurnTable Afro-Pop Songs chart. The EP also reached number 36 on the TurnTable Top 50, solidifying his place as a rising star in the Nigerian music scene.

Career

Soundz began his music journey in 2020, earning attention for his song “Darasimi,” which became a viral hit on Triller Nigeria. The title, derived from his last name Oluwadarasimi, marked the start of his musical identity. His signature producer tag, “Wicked,” became widely recognized, helping establish his presence as a producer and artist.

Later that year, he dropped “Cinderella,” followed by a music video release on Apple Music. In early 2022, Soundz released “Personal” as the lead single for his debut EP. On 27 July 2022, In The Rough officially launched. The track “Attention” became a sleeper hit, gaining traction on TikTok and eventually becoming a commercial success. It peaked at number 5 on the TurnTable Afro-Pop Songs chart in October 2022.

In November, he dropped the music video for “Attention,” which was directed by Pink. Speaking about the EP, Soundz shared that the title In The Rough reflected a personal struggle, portraying his journey through challenging times while holding onto his hidden potential.

In January 2023, he was recognized by Pan African Music as one of the Nigerian artists to watch, signaling his growing influence in the Afrobeat landscape.

Soundz continues to evolve as a dynamic voice in Afrobeat, blending soulful storytelling with catchy production.
