Grammy-winning rapper Cardi B has officially been cleared of all assault allegations in a $24 million civil lawsuit, following a ruling by a Los Angeles jury on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
The lawsuit was filed by Emani Ellis, a former security guard, who accused the rapper of attacking her in 2018 outside a Beverly Hills obstetrician’s office. At the time, Cardi B was pregnant, and Ellis alleged that the rapper scratched her face, spat on her, and used racial slurs.
Taking the stand last week, Cardi B strongly denied the claims, insisting the incident never escalated into physical violence. She admitted she was upset because she was being filmed without consent during a private medical visit, but maintained her actions did not go beyond words.
Her defense was further supported by testimonies from a doctor and a receptionist who were at the clinic. Both witnesses told the jury they saw no physical assault take place.
After less than an hour of deliberation, the jury returned a unanimous verdict in Cardi B’s favor, ruling that she was not liable for any of the alleged actions.
Outside the courthouse, the rapper expressed relief, making it clear she would never admit to something she didn’t do. “Even if I’m on my deathbed, I will say it never happened. I will never admit to something I did not do,” Cardi told reporters.
The verdict closes a long-running case that had hung over the rapper for years, finally allowing her to move forward without the weight of the allegations.
