Early Life

Didi Ekanem was born on 27 August 1988 to Mr and Mrs Ekanem in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, belonging to the Efik/Ibibio ethnic group. She attended Federal Government College, Ikot Ekpene, before proceeding to Macdonald Memorial School for her secondary education, where she obtained her West African School Certificate. She went on to study Linguistics and Communications at the University of Port Harcourt.

Career

Didi Ekanem’s acting journey began while she was still a university student, where she took part in stage acting for about a year before switching to the big screen. She has since featured in numerous Nollywood films, including ‘Journey to Dreamland,’ ‘Escort Service,’ ‘Jump and Pass,’ ‘True to Love,’ ‘Royal Rituals,’ ‘Ikogosi,’ ‘High Stakes’ and ‘The Good Wife,’ with ‘Jump and Pass,’ directed by Desmond Elliot, standing out as her personal favourite among her early roles.

In 2015, she co-starred alongside Juliet Ibrahim in the drama ‘Doll House,’ the same year she also appeared in ‘Damaged Petal’ and ‘Journey to Dreamland.’ Over the course of her career, she has worked alongside major Nollywood names including Ini Edo, Nancy Isime and Ebube Nwagbo. Beyond acting, Didi has built a career as a fashion designer and social media influencer, maintaining a strong public profile alongside her film work.

Personal Life

Didi Ekanem has drawn public attention over incidents including a house fire at her Lagos property, which she shared with fans on social media, describing the property as something she had worked hard to acquire.
