Early Life
Wendy Lawal was born as the fifth child in a family of six. She spent her formative years in Nigeria, where she completed both her primary and secondary education. Driven by her passion for the arts, she pursued a bachelor’s degree in Creative Arts at the University of Lagos.
She experienced a major personal loss in 2020 when her mother passed away. Despite this, she has continued to honor her familyโs support in her journey through life and career.
In 2018, Wendy married Wanri Simpson, the love of her life. Their wedding took place on September 1, and the couple now shares a child together.
Career
Wendy Lawal began her professional acting career in 2009 with a role in the Nigerian TV series Living in Lagos. Her breakthrough came in 2012 when she won the Miss Lagos Carnival Pageant, which opened doors for her in the entertainment industry.
That same year, she landed the role of Shoshanna in the popular Nigerian television soap opera Tinsel, earning recognition for her natural acting style. She expanded her portfolio by taking on diverse roles in television, web series, and short films.
Her filmography includes appearances in The Men’s Club, Jemeji, Journey to Self, The Room, Out of Sight, and Foreign Love, among others. Each role reflects her commitment to emotional authenticity and professionalism.
Wendy continues to blend her modeling and acting careers while balancing her personal life as a wife and mother. Her charm, discipline, and drive keep her evolving as one of Nollywoodโs promising talents.
