Reality television star Tope Adenibuyan, popularly known as Teddy A, has opened up about how false allegations of domestic violence negatively affected both his marriage and professional reputation.

Speaking on the WithChude podcast, the former Big Brother Naija housemate described the claims — which suggested he physically abused his wife, Bamike “Bambam” Olawunmi-Adenibuyan — as deeply distressing and untrue. He explained that the rumors completely contradicted what was happening in his home at the time.

“I woke up, went downstairs, and my wife was there watching a movie. She was pregnant and laughing. I hadn’t posted anything. I was wondering what was trending and why my phone was blowing up.”

Teddy A recalled how the sudden spread of misinformation left his family confused and emotionally shaken. He also shared his wife’s reaction when the reports began circulating online.

“She kept asking who could do this to us. Honestly, I didn’t know where it came from.”

The singer admitted that following advice to remain silent instead of immediately addressing the allegations turned out to be a major mistake. According to him, the narrative continues to resurface and affect how people perceive him years later.

“At the time, I didn’t understand the damage staying silent would do. Even now, when my wife and I post photos or videos, people still comment and ask if I beat her.”

He added that the incident permanently altered his public image.

“It affected me because people began to see me in a way that wasn’t true.”

Throughout the interview, Teddy A maintained that there has never been an incident of domestic abuse in his home. He emphasized that he and his wife remain united and continue to support each other publicly and privately.
