Nigerian singer Okiri Tara Harry, popularly known as Harrysong, has filed a defamation lawsuit against his estranged wife, Alexer Peres. He is demanding N1 billion in damages following a public dispute over the custody of their two young daughters.

According to reports, Harrysong’s legal team issued a formal notice to Peres on Saturday, January 31, 2026. The notice gave her a 14-day ultimatum to retract her statements and issue a public apology. Failure to comply, the letter warned, would result in a formal legal claim.

The cease-and-desist notice read:

Notice to cease and desist from acts amounting to defamation of character and reputation:
Fourteen (14) days ultimatum to offer public apology to Mr. Okiri Tara Harry aka Harrysong.

It further stated:

Failure to comply with our client’s demand within the aforementioned time, our client will not fail to seek monetary damages of N1,000,000,000 for your unlawful conduct and defamatory remarks.

The legal action followed a viral video posted by Peres, in which she tearfully announced her temporary surrender of custody of their daughters, aged three and four. In the video, she alleged emotional distress, harassment, and claimed that the singer had slapped her during a confrontation.

She said the repeated conflicts, legal accusations, and alleged physical abuse had affected her mental health, leading her to step back until she could regain stability.

Harrysong denied the allegations, including the claim that he slapped her or restricted her access to the children. He explained that his earlier silence was meant to protect his family’s privacy. He later shared the legal notice on his Instagram story with the caption:

Let wise counsel prevail!!

The couple, who separated two years ago, remain in conflict over their children’s welfare. Peres has also raised concerns about the girls being left with domestic staff during the singer’s work-related travels.

As of this report, no court dates have been scheduled, as the 14-day ultimatum remains active.
